Welding of Gold Plated, Stainless Steel & Silver Assembly
A communications industry customer came to Norstan, Inc. for the welding of a gold plated stainless steel assembly. Working closely with our customer, we planned production of this project based on their 2D CAD drawing.
The manufacturing process included progressive die stamping and tape welding, using a 32 ton punch press and inline welding equipment. The part, weighing .001lbs. , measured .500" long, .150" wide, and .003" thick. The product required the use of fine silver on cupro nickel CDA 715 on 302 stainless steel, and gold plating. Our technicians worked within tolerances of +.001"/-.002", with a true position of .003". Following completion, we performed weld presence, shear strength, and full dimensional testing.
We produce 75,000 to 100,000 parts for this client annually. To learn more about this project, or for more information on our other products and services, please contact Norstan.
